WELCOME to the OWLs and Pinnacle Honor Society student organizations at MTSU! If you have adult responsibilities beyond college, you may consider yourself a nontraditional or adult student.
If you are interested in enrolling here at MTSU, please know that we estimate the nontraditional students here to be between 40% and 50% of the total student population. So, you will not feel out of place on our campus. There are many other nontraditional students here at MTSU. If you are not already an MTSU student, please click here for more information that might be important to you.
For MTSU students, we hope that you will find a way to connect with other adult learners through our website.
There are two MTSU student organizations just for adult learners and commuter students. Click on the group name to learn more about each one.
OWLs (Older Wiser Learners) is the student organization for all MTSU adult learners -- students, regardless of age, who have adult responsibilities outside of the campus. The OWLs function as a support group, a social group, a service group, and an advocacy group to make the needs of adult learners more visible and to suggest ways to meet those needs at MTSU.
Pinnacle is MTSU's chapter of the national Pinnacle Non-Traditional Honor Society for students over the age of 25. In addition to the 3.0 GPA required for undergraduates (3.4 for graduate students), Pinnacle looks at previous community service, volunteer work, and honors that the student has earned in life.
