Middle Tennessee State University is located in Murfreesboro, TN which is located 30 miles southeast of Nashville, TN. Murfreesboro is the county seat of Rutherford County, has a population of just over 100,000 and is a part of the Nashville metropolitan area. Murfreesboro has seen a lot of growth in the past few years which has allowed it to create its own identity from Nashville. The city has developed shopping centers such as The Avenue, and Stones River Mall. There are plenty of grocery stores, chain restaurants, and places to spend time with friends.
Murfreesboro is also home to the Greenway which includes 10 miles of riverside trails to enjoy. There are also some historical places of interest such as Stones River National Battlefield and Cannonsburgh Village.
