Auto Owners
Excellence in Insurance Scholarship
This account was created in January, 2000,
through a contribution by the Nashville Branch Office of the Auto Owners
Insurance Company. Subsequent donations have augmented the initial gift.
The purpose of this scholarship is to attract
highly qualified students into the insurance program, to familiarize them with
the theory of insurance and the language of the insurance contract, to emphasize
to them the vital role of insurance licensing and professional designation
exams. Criteria to receive the scholarship are that the applicant:

Be a major or minor in

Be enrolled or have completed Fin. 3610,
General Insurance
-
Have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher
-
Pledge membership in the Gamma Iota Sigma
Insurance Fraternity
-
Agree to accompany Dr. Hollman to the
scholarship presentation
-
Be enrolled for at least six hours per
semester
Scholarships are available in the amounts of
$1,000 for insurance majors and $750 for insurance minors at the beginning of
either the Fall or Spring semester, but not both. The scholarship is
renewable annually if the indicated GPA is maintained and other requirements are
met. Selection for the awards will be under the direction of Dr. Kenneth
W. Hollman, Dr. Emily Zietz, and Dr. Charles Baum, with input from the donor as
appropriate.
