Important Note to All GEOL 1030 and GEOL 1031 Students!
All students registered for Introduction to Earth Science lecture (GEOL 1030 )are required to concurrently register for Introduction to Earth Science Lab (GEOL 1031). Likewise, all students registered for Introduction to Earth Science Lab (GEOL 1031) are required to concurrently register for Introduction to Earth Science lecture (GEOL 1030). Students not concurrently registered for GEOL 1030 and GEOL 1031 will be automatically dropped from the GEOL 1030 or GEOL 10301 section in which they are enrolled. Exceptions are granted only by permission of the chairperson of the Department of Geosciences (Dr. R. Zawislak, KOM 325B, 898-2726).
GEOL 1030 and GEOL 1031 Course Information
GEOL 1030 (Introduction to Earth Science lecture, 3 credit hours) and GEOL 1031 (Introduction to Earth Science laboratory, 1 credit hour) provide overview of the Earth's formation, composition and internal structure, as well as discussion of dynamic systems which have operated to shape the solid Earth, oceans, and atmosphere over the Earth's 4.6 billion year history. Upon completion of the courses, students will understand the mechanisms and interdependence of physical Earth systems. An important objective of GEOL 1030 and GEOL 1031 is that all students gain appreciation of the influences of naturally occurring Earth processes on the history and future of humankind.
GEOL 1030 and GEOL 1031 are separate courses. Accordingly, all students receive separate grades for GEOL 1030 and GEOL 1031. GEOL 1031 final grades are not factored into GEOL 1030 final grades.
