![]() |
The purpose of the American Association of University Professors is to advance academic freedom and shared governance, to define fundamental professional values and standards for higher education, and to ensure higher education's contribution to the common good.
The Tennessee State Conference of AAUP holds two meetings per year, lobbies the General Assembly on higher education issues, and monitors legislation and changes to TBR and UT policies. Fall meeting at MTSU, Saturday, November 5, 2011. Links to program and directions. The James Union Building (JUB) is on the west side of campus at Middle Tennessee Blvd. and Bell Street. Park in the lot between Middle Tennessee Blvd. and the JUB, then enter the marked door from the parking area to the Faculty Senate Chambers (JUB Room 100).
Each new member of AAUP strengthens our faculty voice on campus and across the state and nation. At MTSU, your AAUP colleagues monitor changes to university policies regarding academic freedom, tenure, and promotion; advocate for better salaries and benefits, including those for adjunct faculty; and assist faculty who believe their rights have been violated.
